Artist's Comments

This is the metal corset that I just finished... about 75 hours in total. It is fitted to me but it is adjustable for the most part. It is made entirely out of 18ga. brass and 20 ga. copper. Everything was hand textured and formed. The rivets were all hand made as well (all 135+). and the front panel is acid etched. It is lined with wool felt in an effort to make it more comfortable, which was probably completely futile, so it will mostly be a sculptural piece.

I hope to get some better photos of it in the near future on a body because it looks much better when it is worn.

mhh it isn't very comfortable huh?
you can't bend your body in that metal trap.
i know corsets don't let you move anyway^^ but maybe you could make it composite...

That's really beautiful. It's a very elegant design, ne. I love the contrast between the soft, flowing ribbons and the rigid metal. It's one of the most creative corsets I've seen.

Omg... I got to introduce more metal to my corsets...
Great idea.

Ooh, that would be cold. Beautiful!
:iconchebanse:
Thank you! It's actually lined with wool felt so the metal isn't cold when you put it on... It's really too warm to wear for very long.

Awesome stuff! If you don't mind my asking, did you use anything for reference? Or was it more along the lines of trial an error?

Overall an amazing piece. And if i had a hat ;P i would be taking it off to you! :D

Thank you! :-) I didn't have any refference to work from. Most of it was trial and error. I built a model in craft foam so that I had a pattern to work from and I fitted that to a makeshift dress dummy that I made of my torso. The main part of the corset (brass) followed my pattern very closely and worked with my original plan but a lot of the decorative elements and the copper pieces just kind of happened as I worked on the piece.
